How did Carlos Ghosn, Nissan CEO, escape from Japan? Will Andy Palmer reveal all or keep back the details for his forthcoming biography to be published by Porter Press?
With an ever-increasing number of stylish concours events and exciting historic race meetings, is it time for something very different?
HCVA members Porter Press certainly hope so as they are organising the world’s first motoring literary and art festival. With three theatres and 30 sessions spread over two days, this is indeed a very different motoring event.
The subjects range over a broad spectrum but embrace F1, motoring art, sports car racing, automotive design, the motor industry, Land-Rovers, car-themed movies and even crime and cheats!
A host of artists, from painters to sculptors, will be displaying their creations. Exhibitors from Renault Alpine to Girardo & Co., from Hortons Books to Amalgam, from Jarrotts to Dalton Watson, from MHD Watches to Ludlow Bookbinders are among the 50+ exhibitors.
Personalities include Lord Hesketh, Professor Peter Stevens, Lee McKenzie, John Watson, Karun Chandhok, Andy Palmer, Ian Callum CBE, Jackie Oliver, Sir John Egan and some 40 more. Authors include Richard Heseltine, James Page, Philip Porter, Martin Port, Matthew Field and Crispian Besley.
Thinking of the next generation, the Festival is partnering with Coventry University and students currently engaged in a Masters degree in Automotive Journalism will be manning the event and gaining valuable work experience. They are the next generation; the present generation is covered by The Guild of Motoring Writers who are also Event Partners and in full support mode. The charity partner is Sir Jackie Stewart's Race Against Dementia.
Under one £27m roof at The Wing at Silverstone, participants will be entertained, informed, amused and maybe shocked by a wonderful array of speakers with plenty of opportunities for book signings and chats with motoring heroes.
